Coves, pine woods and uneven reception
L’Ametlla de Mar is rocky coast: coves, small cliffs and estates looking out to sea from among the pines. It is a beautiful landscape and, at the same time, difficult ground for television. The houses were built to follow the contours and many sit lower than the road or behind pine woods that have never stopped growing. The result is terrestrial reception that varies a great deal from one plot to the next.
The faults we see most here:
- An aerial screened by vegetation. The one that worked ten years ago now has a pine tree in front of it.
- Salt corrosion on connectors, clamps and mast, above all in front-line houses.
- An overloaded amplifier, thanks to 5G transmissions in the 700 MHz band.
- An installation built for one television that now feeds four.
Our work always starts with the field meter. Only then do we know whether the aerial needs raising, moving, the amplification changing or the cabling redoing. Details under TV aerials and satellite dishes.
Houses in Calafat, Sant Jordi d’Alfama and Les Tres Cales
These estates hold a great many second homes and also European residents who live here for a good part of the year. Two requests come up again and again:
International channels. We fit and realign satellite dishes towards Astra 19.2° E, which carries numerous German, British and French channels, or towards Hispasat 30° W for Spanish-language platforms. We choose the dish and the mounting with the wind and the sea air in mind.
One installation for everything. If you want terrestrial and satellite in several rooms, we fit a multiswitch and leave every point ready, rather than adding cables along the facade.
An empty house: cameras and wifi to keep an eye on it
A home in L’Ametlla de Mar that spends months shut up needs more than an aerial. Many owners want to see their property from a phone while they are away. We fit CCTV with IP cameras and an NVR or DVR recorder, covering the entrances and the outdoor parts of the plot without taking in the public street, and we put up the monitored-area notice.
For that to work, the network has to reach every camera properly. In houses with a porch, a pool or several floors we fit wired access points or a mesh system, as we explain under wifi solutions. Stable wifi also makes day-to-day life better while you are in the house.
The town and the harbour
In the centre of L’Ametlla de Mar, around the fishing harbour, the picture changes: blocks of flats, village houses of two or three storeys and flats let out to visitors. Here the faults have more to do with old communal aerials and with indoor distribution put together in pieces. We check the head-end, swap splitters for tap-offs and leave the sockets at a similar level across all the flats.
If your association has an entry system giving trouble, or wants to move to video entry, we deal with that too; the information is under door entry systems. And if you let your flat by the season, it is worth going over the installation before the summer so you do not get complaints from guests with no television.
Halfway to the Delta
Of the Terres de l’Ebre towns we cover, L’Ametlla de Mar is the closest to Salou, on the AP-7 or the N-340 along the coast. Even so, it is not a visit we can drop in on: we arrange it in advance and combine it with other work in the area, such as L’Ampolla, or on the southern Baix Camp coast, such as L’Hospitalet de l’Infant.
Before coming we ask you to describe the fault and send photos. On the visit we measure, quote free of charge and, if you give us the go-ahead, repair and check the signal at every point before we leave.
