Aerial installation and repair in Reus
Reus is the capital of the Baix Camp and a varied city to work in. In the Centre and districts such as Barri Fortuny there are older buildings packed side by side, with communal aerials put up decades ago. In Mas Pellicer, Sant Pere and Montserrat the tall blocks dominate, with many flats on each staircase. And in areas like Mas Iglesias, Mas Abelló and Niloga there are houses and townhouses with their own installation.
In a dense city of tall buildings, terrestrial television faults have very specific causes:
- Head-ends that were never updated. Many associations got through the 2020 digital dividend with a quick retune. They still work, but some multiplexes arrive with no margin and drop out at the slightest change.
- Mobile phone interference. In urban areas with base stations nearby, a central unit with no LTE or 5G filter lets through signal that degrades the channels at the top of the UHF band.
- Distribution networks at the end of their life. Splitters chained in series, joints in service ducts and sockets added without any calculation mean the lower flats are fine and the upper ones are not, or the other way round.
- Work on the roof. After the terrace is waterproofed, or other equipment goes up, we often find the aerial shifted and cables trodden on.
We always start the same way: we measure at the head-end with a field meter, channel by channel, and then at representative sockets on different floors. That tells us whether the aerial, the programmable central unit or the network needs the work. Plenty of associations avoid a full renewal once the fault is pinned down. Everything about the service is under communal TV aerials.
If several residents in your building want international channels, we can also look at satellite distribution with a multiswitch instead of individual dishes on every balcony; that is explained under TV aerials and satellite dishes.
Door entry and video entry in the blocks of Reus
In a Reus block the door entry system gets used dozens of times a day and is usually many years old. The commonest faults: a power supply that burns out, buttons that stop responding through sheer wear, crackly audio, or a lock release that fails on damp days.
We repair entrance panels and handsets where it makes sense, and suggest replacement once the installation no longer takes spare parts. To avoid chasing out the staircase walls, 2-wire video systems reuse the existing cable. In new or refurbished buildings, an IP system lets you answer the call on your phone. More under door entry systems.
In associations with a car park or storerooms, we add access control with proximity key fobs or cards, which are enabled and cancelled without changing locks when someone loses a key or a tenant moves on.
Cameras for shops, offices and industrial units
Reus has busy retail in the Centre and industry on its estates. For both we fit CCTV with IP cameras and an NVR recorder, with phone access so you can see the premises outside opening hours.
Before anything goes up, we go through which areas need covering with you: entrance, till, stockroom, loading bay. We place each camera so it records your space and not the street, and remind you of the basic data protection duties, such as the monitored-area notice.
Wifi in flats and houses
The older flats in the centre have thick walls and long, narrow layouts; houses in Mas Iglesias or Mas Abelló have several floors. In both cases the provider’s router falls short. We propose wired access points where that is possible and a mesh system where it is not. If people work from home or several are online at once, it pays to measure before buying equipment. In shops offering wifi to customers, we also separate the guest network from the business network and the cameras, a simple step that heads off a lot of security trouble. Details under wifi solutions.
What drives the quote for an association
We do not give fixed prices without seeing the installation, because two buildings in the same district can need very different work. What weighs most is:
- How many flats and sockets, which sets the type of central unit and the distribution network.
- The state of the vertical cabling. If the coaxial in the ducts is sound it stays; if it is cut or spliced, it has to be replaced.
- Access to the roof. A flat terrace you can walk on is not the same as a pitched roof with no easy way up.
- What else is being added: communal satellite, filters, new sockets or a new entry system within the same job.
Once the measurements are done, the quote separates what is essential from what is advisable, so the committee can decide on the facts and without surprises halfway through.
How we work with associations in Reus
- Visit and diagnosis. We check the head-end, the telecoms cupboard or the entry system, depending on the case.
- A free written quote, so the association or the property manager can approve it.
- Notice to residents when the work means cutting the signal or the entry system.
- The work, then the checks, measuring the signal at several sockets or testing every call on the entry system.
Coming out to Reus
From our base in Salou we reach Reus in fifteen or twenty minutes on the dual carriageway between the two. We cover every district, Juroca, Barri Gaudí, Horts de Miró, La Pastoreta and Sant Josep Obrer included, as well as the estates and industrial areas in the municipality. From Reus we carry on to nearby towns such as Riudoms and Castellvell del Camp.
