Vila-seca, the inland town
When somebody looks for an aerial engineer in Vila-seca, they often have the coast in mind. But the town of Vila-seca itself, around its historic centre and the railway station, has a life of its own that is nothing like La Pineda: village houses, blocks of flats from several periods and detached houses around the edges. This page is about that side of the municipality; for the beach area, see La Pineda.
Aerials in the town’s houses and flats
The housing stock in central Vila-seca is varied, and each type has its own typical faults:
- Village houses with an individual aerial: tired brackets, cable left out in the sun and amplifiers from another era.
- Blocks with a communal aerial: head-end units never fully reset after the second digital dividend, weathered tap-offs, and sockets that fail in a few flats only.
- Refurbished houses: new sockets wired in without respecting the distribution, which drops the signal everywhere.
On top of that there is something we see more and more: 5G and LTE interference from mobile networks, which shows up as intermittent drop-outs on certain channels. The right filter in the right place normally clears it.
We always measure before changing anything. That stops us replacing a perfectly good aerial when the culprit is a connector. There is more under TV aerials and satellite dishes.
Cameras and alarms for private houses
Around the edges of the town and in the residential parts of the municipality there are a lot of houses with plots. What their owners ask us for most is CCTV and alarms:
- Outdoor IP cameras at the door, the garage and the yard, built to take rain and sun.
- An NVR or DVR recorder that keeps the footage and lets you review it.
- Phone access to see the house live.
- An alarm with sensors on the ways in and immediate alerts.
If the house stands empty for stretches, or sits a little apart from the town, the recorder should be out of sight and the system should keep recording even when the internet drops. We allow for that from the design stage.
We also advise you so the cameras cover only your own property, not the public street or the neighbour’s house, and on putting up the video surveillance sign that GDPR requires.
Wifi in two-storey houses
A very common complaint in Vila-seca: the router is downstairs and there is no internet upstairs. Floor slabs and load-bearing walls take a lot out of the signal. A wired access point on the upper floor, or a well-placed mesh system, gives steady coverage across the house and out into the yard. If you want outdoor cameras, this step is close to essential. More under wifi solutions.
Satellite for channels from abroad
Vila-seca also has residents from other countries and people who follow international channels. We fit satellite dishes pointed at Astra 19.2° E, Hispasat 30° W or whichever satellite carries the programming you want.
How we work
Every visit in Vila-seca starts with listening to what happens and when: whether the fault is constant, whether it appears with the wind, whether it hits only certain channels. Those details steer the diagnosis.
We talk it through, visit the property and take readings. You get a free quote, no obligation, and we only start once you approve it. At the end we check the signal or the working of each piece of equipment and show you how to use it.
We are neighbours
Vila-seca and Salou border each other, so we reach the centre of Vila-seca in about ten minutes. We cover the town, the station area and the residential parts of the municipality, as well as La Pineda. Very close by we also work in La Canonja and in Salou.
