La Mora: a beach estate built around communities
Unlike its smaller, more scattered neighbour Tamarit, La Mora is dominated by residents’ associations: apartment blocks, rows of townhouses and gated estates with communal grounds, next to the Platja Llarga and the Punta de la Mora. Most were built with the summer in mind, and today they also house people who live here all year round.
That produces a very particular kind of work: communal systems feeding a lot of homes, door entry panels and gates that open and close hundreds of times a day in August, and associations that need to organise access for owners, tenants and maintenance staff alike.
Communal aerials that have seen a lot of summers
In La Mora buildings we usually find the aerial on the roof of the block, an amplifier unit in the plant room, and the signal shared out through tap-offs to each flat. The faults that come up again and again:
- Old head-end units that were never properly adjusted after digital television moved down the band when 700 MHz was released.
- Salt and damp in connectors and tap-offs inside the riser cabinets, especially in blocks near the water.
- Sockets that fail in some flats only, which points to the distribution rather than the aerial.
- 5G interference, corrected with the right filter at the head-end.
Our diagnosis starts at the head-end and follows the signal to the points where it drops. The field meter tells us which section holds the problem, so what we propose is proportionate to the fault. More under communal TV aerials.
Access control on a private estate
La Mora communities with a pool, gardens or a garage face something a city-centre building never deals with: who comes in, and when. With flats changing occupants every week in season, handing out metal keys becomes a problem in itself.
We fit access control to suit each community:
- Proximity fobs or cards for the main door, the pool and the communal areas.
- Opening from a phone for garage doors and pedestrian gates.
- Adding and removing users without changing locks when a key is lost or a tenancy ends.
Paired with a decent door entry system at the estate entrance, residents can see who is calling and let them in from indoors.
Satellite dishes for European owners
Plenty of La Mora owners come from other countries, and we fit both individual and communal satellite dishes. In larger buildings a shared dish with a multiswitch avoids filling balconies and facades with individual dishes, which most residents’ associations prefer both on looks and because of what the wind does to them.
How we work with your association
We know that decisions in a community go through a meeting. So:
- We visit the installation and take whatever readings are needed.
- We prepare a clear free quote the property manager can put forward.
- We schedule the work to cause the least disruption, avoiding the busiest days where possible.
- When it is finished we check the signal at several sockets and record the result.
We can also leave the installation documented: where the head-end sits, which filters are in it, and which sockets were checked. If the property manager changes later, or another fault turns up, anyone can see where to start.
If you own a detached house, the process is identical but quicker: you talk to us directly and decide for yourself.
From Salou to La Mora
La Mora belongs to the municipality of Tarragona and lies east of the city. From our base in Salou we reckon on roughly half an hour, depending on traffic. We cover the whole estate, the Platja Llarga area and Cala Fonda, along with the village of Tamarit and the rest of Tarragona.
