A quiet village of seasonal homes
Tamarit belongs to Tarragona, but daily life here looks nothing like the city. It is a small place beside the castle of Tamarit, the beach and the mouth of the river Gaià, made up of detached houses, seasonal accommodation and very few year-round neighbours in winter. That shapes what people ask us for: fewer big communal aerial systems, and far more solutions for houses that spend long stretches empty.
Keeping an eye on the house while you are away
The worry we hear most from Tamarit owners is simply not knowing what is happening at the property during the months they are not using it. CCTV answers a good part of that:
- Outdoor IP cameras at the entrance, in the garden and on the porch, built for the weather.
- An NVR recorder inside the house, somewhere discreet, holding the footage even if the internet goes down.
- Phone access to watch live or review recordings.
- An alarm with alerts, if you want to go a step further.
One practical point: put the recorder well away from the front door and on a protected supply. If somebody does get in, they should not be able to walk off with it in two seconds.
Wifi across the whole plot
In houses with a garden the router usually ends up in a corner of the living room, and the signal never reaches the terrace, the back bedroom or the outdoor cameras. A repeater plugged in wherever there is a socket rarely fixes it. What does work:
- Measuring the coverage room by room and outdoors.
- A mesh system with the nodes properly placed, or wired access points where thick walls have to be crossed.
- Powerline adapters only when no cable can be run and the electrical installation suits them.
This matters even more once you have cameras: without a solid signal, the picture freezes exactly when you need it. Details under wifi solutions.
The aerial after winter
Near the sea, salt and damp work away all year, whether or not anyone is living in the house. When owners come back in spring or summer we find connectors green with corrosion, water inside cables and aerials turned by the wind. We check the whole TV aerial: alignment, amplifier, 5G filtering and the state of the cable to every socket.
If you want channels from other countries, we fit a satellite dish pointed at whichever satellite carries them.
Holiday lets and rented houses
Tamarit also has seasonal accommodation and houses let out over the summer. The needs change here: the guest expects the television to work and the wifi to reach everywhere from day one. For those properties we suggest:
- A pre-season check, measuring the signal and testing every socket.
- A separate guest wifi network, so visitors are not sharing the network your cameras sit on.
- Cameras outdoors and at entrances only, respecting the privacy of whoever is staying and keeping within GDPR.
That way the first call of the summer is not a complaint about the television.
How we go about it
We start by listening, and by looking at photos if you have them. Then we visit the house, take readings and give you a free quote, no obligation. Nothing starts without your say-so. At the end we check the signal at every socket and set the cameras up on your phone with you there.
If you are not in Tamarit yourself, we can arrange the visit with a neighbour or whoever holds the keys, and send you the outcome.
Coming over from Salou
Tamarit lies east of Tarragona, close to Altafulla. From Salou we reckon on roughly half an hour, depending on traffic through the city. We often combine visits with neighbouring La Mora, and we also work in Altafulla and right across Tarragona.
