Aerials on the village houses of Riudoms
Riudoms is an inland town in the Baix Camp, very close to Reus, with a farming tradition built on hazelnuts and olive oil. Most of its homes are terraced village houses, tall and narrow, with tiled roofs and refurbishments carried out piece by piece across generations. That leaves a clear mark on the television installation.
What we find most often when we get up onto a roof in the nucli antic:
- Old masts strapped to chimneys that are no longer in good condition. Before we touch the aerial we check the bracket.
- Aerials nobody has realigned since terrestrial television first arrived. After the 2020 frequency changes, some channels get through with nothing to spare.
- Cable running down the facade and in through a window, its insulation cracked by the sun.
- One socket per floor added without any calculation, leaving the top-floor rooms short of signal.
Our usual answer combines realigning the aerial with a field meter, renewing the coaxial and fitting a splitter suited to the number of sockets. If amplification is needed, we set the gain so nothing overloads. More under TV aerials and satellite dishes.
In the newer homes in the Eixample, with flat roofs and a tidier layout, the work is usually quicker: check the aerial, fit a filter against mobile interference and test the sockets.
Full refurbishments: the moment to do it properly
In Riudoms it is common to buy an old village house and rebuild it completely. If you are at that stage, tell us before the walls go back up. With the work open it is easy to leave ducting for the coaxial and network cable to every room, allow a small cupboard for the router and the camera recorder, and put the aerial mast where it will not get in the way of the new roof.
Doing it afterwards, with everything painted, means surface trunking or wireless answers that perform less well. A word with the builder or the electrician in good time saves everyone work. If you also want satellite channels, the route for the dish is left ready at the same time.
Farmhouses, stores and land: wifi and cameras
Around the village, the Riudoms area is dotted with farmhouses, field huts and agricultural stores. The needs there are different:
Wifi in stone buildings. The thick walls of a farmhouse block a wireless signal far more than a partition wall. What works is cabled access points, room by room or floor by floor. When the store stands apart from the house, we can link the two buildings with buried cable, or with a point-to-point wireless link if there is a clear line of sight. It is all under wifi solutions.
Watching over the land. Machinery, tools and the harvest are a common reason to fit CCTV. We put up outdoor IP cameras with night vision, a recorder somewhere protected and access from your phone. We place the cameras to cover gates and store doors, without recording public tracks beyond what is unavoidable, and remind you about the monitored-area notice.
Units on the industrial estate. For businesses there we combine cameras, office wifi and, where needed, access control for staff.
What the visit looks like
We ask what is happening and since when. At the house, we measure on the roof and at the sockets to find the cause. You get a free quote with no obligation and, if it suits you, we do the work. When we finish we measure again and leave the television tuned or the cameras showing on your phone.
From Salou to Riudoms
Riudoms is about twenty minutes from Salou by road, between Reus and Cambrils. We cover the village, the residential areas, the industrial estate and the farmhouses across the municipality. If you have a business or family nearby, we also work in Reus and Cambrils.
