What a camera system in Tarragona actually needs
In a city with such different districts, no single kit suits everyone. A shop in the Part Alta, a bar in the Eixample, the garage of a block in Torreforta and a unit on an industrial estate have risks, opening hours and spaces with nothing in common. So every CCTV installation in Tarragona starts with a visit: what you want to protect, where people come in, what light there is at night, and where the recorder can go without sitting in plain view.
With that, we propose something concrete: how many cameras, what lens, where the recording happens and how long the footage is kept. You have it in writing before anything is done. If you want to see the whole scope of the service, it is under CCTV security cameras.
Shops and hospitality in the centre
In town-centre premises the usual approach covers three points: the entrance, the till area and the stockroom or back door. Older premises tend to have high ceilings, shop windows that dazzle the cameras during the day, and little room to hide cable. We choose IP cameras with backlight correction for the door and discreet domes for the interior.
The NVR recorder goes somewhere protected and hard to reach, because footage anybody can walk off with is not much good. From your phone you see the live view, get motion alerts outside opening hours and find a particular moment without going to the premises.
Apartment blocks: entrances, garages and storage units
A good share of our city work is for residents’ associations. The typical problems are thefts from storage units, damage to cars in the garage, and strangers following a resident in. The key points here are:
- Cover the ways in, do not watch the residents. Cameras on the entrance, the ramp and the storage unit doors; never inside private areas.
- A decision at the owners’ meeting before installing, and somebody appointed by the owners to be responsible for the system.
- A CCTV warning sign and limited retention of the footage, as the GDPR requires.
In larger blocks we usually cable with network and PoE power along the garage ducting, which keeps maintenance simple. If the owners also want to upgrade entry to the building, it can be combined with access control.
Industrial units and estates
In warehouses and units the distances set the pace. There are long perimeters, loading yards and areas with no light at night. We use cameras with longer-range infrared, or with visible deterrent lighting, and put the recorder in the office with remote access for whoever is in charge. Where a cabin or another unit has to be reached without digging a trench, we look at a point-to-point wireless link.
Installation, the law and maintenance
Mounting the cameras is only part of it. When we finish we leave the users, the recorder’s date and time and the recording days all set up. We show you how to use the app and how to export a clip if you ever have to hand one over. We also advise you on what may and may not be recorded.
We come from Salou and cover the whole city. If your business or your building is on the western side, we work just the same in La Canonja, and there is more about the area on our Tarragona page.
