A village of houses with roof terraces
El Morell is a small municipality in the inland Tarragonès, surrounded by fields, with the petrochemical activity to the north not far off. But for our purposes what defines El Morell is its housing: detached and village houses, many with a yard and with their own aerial on the roof terrace. There are no large apartment blocks here; every house is its own installation.
That brings an advantage: faults are easier to pin down. And a drawback: nobody else is looking after your aerial, so it has often gone years without anyone going up to see it.
Individual aerials: what we find when we climb up
When we look at an aerial in El Morell, the causes tend to repeat:
- A rusted or badly anchored mast, which the wind here eventually shifts.
- An aerial still pointing where it pointed years ago. After the digital television frequency changes that released the 700 MHz band, some installations need the alignment or the amplification adjusted.
- A masthead amplifier burnt out by a storm or simply by age.
- Sockets added in a chain, leaving the last television in the house short of signal.
- 5G and LTE interference, increasingly present in rural areas too.
Our rule is to measure before touching anything. The field meter tells us what signal is reaching the aerial and what is reaching each socket, so we only change what is failing. The full detail is under TV aerials and satellite dishes.
Satellite dishes on village houses
On a private house the dish depends on no residents’ association, which makes it easier to fit. In El Morell and around it we are asked for:
- New dishes on the roof terrace or the wall, with a solid bracket.
- Reusing old dishes that have sat unused for years.
- Changing satellite, for example from Hispasat 30° W to Astra 19.2° E or the other way, depending on the channels you want.
- Distributing satellite to several rooms from one dish.
The service is set out on the satellite dishes page.
Alarms and cameras for the house
Houses in El Morell have yards, garages and back entrances giving onto lanes or open ground. That is why so many residents want more than a lock. We install CCTV and alarms sized for a home:
- Sensors on doors, windows and the ways in from the yard.
- Outdoor IP cameras with night vision and phone access.
- Recording to an NVR kept inside the house.
- Alerts to your phone when the alarm goes off.
We help you aim the cameras at your own property, not the street or the house next door, as GDPR requires.
Door entry and video entry on houses
On a house with a gate or a yard door, a video entry system lets you see who is calling without going out. We replace old audio entry systems with video entry systems using an indoor monitor and, if you want, an alert on your phone, reusing the existing cable wherever possible.
How we work
First we talk it through to understand the problem. Then we visit the house, inspect and measure. You get a free quote, no obligation, and if you agree we do the work and check the result before leaving. If we can look at several things on the same visit, so much the better for you: aerial, dish and entry system can all be checked in one go.
El Morell from Salou
El Morell sits inland, north of Tarragona. From Salou we reckon on around twenty-five minutes. We cover the whole village and the neighbouring towns of La Pobla de Mafumet and Vilallonga del Camp, and we work often in Constantí. If you are nearer the coast, have a look at the Tarragona page as well.
